Campus Ministers

Dr. JerryDr. Jerry is the Senior Campus Minister at the GSU BCM. This year he is working mainly with the PrimeTime Council. Jerry received both a Master's degree and a doctor of Ministry degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. A native of Virginia, his undergraduate work was done at Bluefield College and Old Dominion University. Before coming to Georgia Southern in 1995 as the Senior Campus Minister for the BSU, he served for 12 years as the campus minister at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. He's happily married to Leslie. They have one great son, Daniel.

Donna BlackburnDonna Blackburn is a Campus Minister at the Georgia Southern BCM and is working mainly with the Outreach Council. Donna graduated from Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. She attained her Masters at Georgia State University and studied further at Columbia Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. She worked in the GBC office coordinating the state BSU summer missions program before coming to Georgia Southern. She has been here since June of 1991. Donna is originally from Coleman, Georgia.

Dr. DealDr. Todd Deal serves as Faculty Advisor to the BCM and as a volunteer BCM campus minister working with our Discipleship Council. Dr. Deal is a native of Statesboro and did his undergraduate work in Chemistry at Georgia Southern. He earned a PhD. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University and is a professor of Chemistry at Georgia Southern. His wife and two girls are the loves of his life. Any morning when the temperature is above 30 degrees, you'll find Dr. Deal cycling the streets of Statesboro at about 6 am!

Leah ColvinLeah Colvin, our intern, is really excited about working with Outreach council this year. She graduated from the University of Georgia in Counseling/ Child and Family Development with the class of 2009. In 2008, she served with the GBC as the state representative for international ministry. Allthough from the north, she has lived here over 11 years. In the near future, she plans to go to seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and work in ministry forever.

Ben RobertsBen will be working this year with the Missions and Ministry Council here at the BCM. He is very excited to have this opportunity. Ben is the Minister of Students at Friendship Baptist Church here in Statesboro, GA working with college and youth. He is originally from Melbourne, FL and attended college at the Baptist College of Florida (2003). He is married to Kristina and has been married for 6 years. He and his wife have one child, a daughter, Eva Marie born in 2008. After graduating from college Ben and Kristina were appointed by the SBC's North American Mission Board as US/C-2 missionaries and commissioned to serve in Cincinnati, OH. There they served with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Also they served in the local church of Creek Road Baptist Church. After the two year appointment they moved to Louisville, KY where Ben attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated in December of 2008 with a Masters in Divinity. Upon graduation they moved here to Statesboro in March of 2009 to serve in the local church.
